The Art of Surrender

So I have a little experience to share with you that really taught me a lesson.

Two days ago I was feeling an unusual amount of anxiety. I had gotten up early, starter to throw old food out of the refrigerator which led to me just deciding to go ahead and completely clean it out. A while later, while I was rushing to get the car loaded for a 5-hour trip, I opened the fridge to grab a water and there was beet juice, from a package of fermented beets, running from the top shelf, through all the food, the lower shelves, and onto the bottom of the fridge. Ughhh! After spending time I did not have to clean it up, I tried to finish loading the car.

During the process I lost my watch, which was later located in a very unusual bag in the car. Next I lost my phone and since I did not have my watch, I could not use the handy device on it to ping my phone. The phone was eventually located, again in a very unusual spot. (Are you getting tense by now? I am, just recalling this story.) I did finally get to my destination.

The next morning, I was on a short time window to drive the 5 hours back home to make an appointment at 3:30. I went to move my car so I could load it and it would not start. So while trying to conduct a conference call, I found my son’s car charger and power cord to charge the battery. When the car started Waze told me I had a 5 hour and 6-minute drive to make it to my appointment that was in 5 hours and 10 minutes. So if you know me at all, you will know there is no way I can make a drive like that without at least 3 stops. So I decided to finally laugh, a really hardy belly laugh, and realize Mercury pre-retrograde was winning.

Rather than falling apart, I phoned the doctor’s office, explained the situation and suggested they try to fill my appointment from their long waiting list and place me at the bottom of that list. The woman on the other end of the phone said the doc had a 20-minute window after my appointment so she could move my time back by 20 minutes if that would help. I gladly agreed and arrived two minutes before my appointment time, having kept my 3 stops very short! It was one of the most productive appointments and the energy in my day completely shifted. Since then I asked for some help with my business and resources are showing up from the most unexpected places.

The moral of the story is: when Mercury pre-retrograde starts creating chaos in your life, acknowledge it, laugh a little (or a lot), and find a way to roll with it. You might just receive some unexpected synchronicities!
